Nigeria has 10.5 million children who are currently out-of-school. The Oando Foundation is committed to improving access to quality education in Nigeria by creating world-class learning environments in public primary schools across the country through its signature project, the Adopt-A-School Initiative (AASI); they leverage resources, best practices, cross-cutting solutions that have resulted in:

  • School Adoption: 80 public primary schools adopted across 22 African states
  • Increased enrollment: over 16,000 out-of-school children enrolled, 16.3% increase in primary enrollment, and 42% increase in pre-school enrollment in the adopted schools
  • Infrastructure Development: upgrade of school infrastructure and sanitation facilities across 22 schools
  • ICT Education: 19 solar powered ICT Centers established to support technology-based education
  • Grants: 1102 scholarships awarded to support transition to secondary school
  • Greater opportunities for success for young girls
